How the 8th Pay Commission salary is calculated

New basic pay = current basic pay × fitment factor, rounded to the nearest ₹100. DA usually restarts at 0% on the new pay, and HRA goes back to 24% / 16% / 8% for X / Y / Z cities (it is 30% / 20% / 10% today because DA is above 50%). Default current DA here is 63%, the rate from 1 July 2026.

The 7th CPC used 2.57×. For the 8th CPC, figures between 1.92× and 2.86× are being discussed and staff unions have asked for more than 3.5×. Nothing is final until the Government accepts the Commission’s report, so treat every number on this page as an estimate.

What will Level 1 minimum pay be?

₹18,000 × fitment factor – for example ₹34,600 at 1.92×, ₹41,000 at 2.28× and ₹46,300 at 2.57× (rounded to ₹100).

Because DA (63% now) is merged into the new basic and restarts at 0%, and HRA rates drop back to 24/16/8%.

Is this official?

No. It is an independent estimate tool. Final pay will be as notified by the Government of India.
