PDF to Word: how it works

After you choose a PDF, an on-page upload preview shows page thumbnails (filename + page count) so you can confirm the right file before Convert.

Text PDF (digital)

  1. Choose Text PDF, pick your file (preview appears), then press Convert to Word.
  2. We read the selectable text layer (Unicode Hindi stays Devanagari; English stays Latin). Simple aligned tables become real Word tables when we can detect them.
  3. Download the Word file – nothing was uploaded.

Scanned / Hindi OCR

  1. Choose Scanned / Hindi OCR. Default language is Hindi + English so English words stay English.
  2. Check the upload preview, then Convert. The first run downloads a language model in your browser (shown as %).
  3. Pages are rendered at higher DPI with light cleanup, then recognised locally; then download .docx.

Tables are best-effort (not pixel-perfect). Handwriting and blurry scans need cleanup first. If a Hindi PDF uses Kruti Dev in the text layer, convert with Kruti Dev ↔ Unicode or use OCR mode.

How to watermark a PDF

  1. Choose or drop the PDF.
  2. Type the watermark text and choose position, angle, size, colour, opacity and pages.
  3. Tap Add watermark and download.

Frequently asked questions

Can I watermark ID copies "for KYC only"?

Yes. Type for example "Only for bank KYC – 24/10/2026" and choose Repeat across page so it cannot be cropped out easily.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The watermark is added inside your browser; the file never leaves your device.

Can I use Hindi text?

Not yet – the watermark currently supports English letters, numbers and common symbols.

Can the watermark be removed?

It is drawn into the page content, so it is not removable with a single click, but determined users with PDF editors may edit it. For stronger protection also use Protect PDF.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Enter a page range like 1-3, 5 or 2- in the Pages box.

Merge & split: how it works

How to use the PDF Organizer

  1. Choose one or more PDF files. Every page appears as a numbered thumbnail; pages from several files are added one after another.
  2. Drag a thumbnail to a new position (or use ◀ ▶ on a phone). Press ⟳ to rotate a page by 90° and ✕ to delete it.
  3. To merge, press Download PDF – you get one file with all pages in the order shown.
  4. To split, tick pages and press Extract selected pages, press Split every page for a ZIP of single-page PDFs, or type ranges such as 1-3, 4-6.

Online application portals often ask for a single PDF with all documents, for example 10th and 12th marksheets together, under a fixed size. Organise the pages here first, then use the PDF Compressor if the merged file is too large. Text and quality of the original pages are kept exactly, because pages are copied, not re-printed.

Looking for a PDF organizer? The Merge & split tab is a full PDF organizer: reorder pages by dragging, rotate, delete, extract or split, and save the result – all in your browser.

Rotate PDF: how it works

How to rotate PDF pages

  1. Open the Rotate PDF tab and choose a PDF.
  2. Tap ⟲ 90° CCW, ⟳ 90° CW or ↻ 180° on a page – or use the top bar for selected / all pages.
  3. Press Download rotated PDF. Text stays sharp because pages are copied, not re-printed.

Also available inside Merge & split. For phone photos of documents before making a PDF, use JPG to PDF → Scan auto-correct, or the full Document Scanner.

Compress PDF: how it works

How to use the PDF Compressor

  1. Choose one PDF or several at once (batch). Size is shown for each.
  2. Pick resolution and JPEG quality, or a target KB – the same options apply to every file in a batch.
  3. Tick Black & white for text documents – grey pages compress much better.
  4. Press Compress PDF, then download each file or Download all (ZIP). Open a result once to confirm it is readable.

This method works best for scanned documents and photos saved as PDF, which is what most applicants upload. Because pages are re-drawn as images, text in a digitally created PDF will no longer be selectable; for such files a lower level may not save much. If the result is not smaller, simply keep your original.

Compress PDF to 100 KB, 190 KB or 200 KB

Many portals cap uploads at 100 KB, 190–200 KB or 300 KB. Open Compress PDF, type the limit minus a little margin (for example 95 for "less than 100 KB" or 180 for a 190 KB limit) and the tool tries quality levels until the file fits. For a one- or two-page scan, 100 KB is usually reachable with Black & white ticked; a long colour document may need fewer pages first. Step-by-step: how to compress a PDF to 100 KB.

JPG to PDF: how it works

How to use the Image to PDF

  1. Choose one or more images (JPG, PNG or WebP). Each becomes one page.
  2. Use ▲ ▼ to reorder; Crop, Resize, ⟲/⟳ rotate, or Scan auto-correct before Make PDF; ✕ to remove.
  3. Choose A4 (most common in India), Letter, Legal, A5 or Fit to image, plus orientation and margin.
  4. Press Make PDF. The PDF downloads straight away.

Auto orientation turns landscape photos into landscape pages so nothing is shrunk unnecessarily. Choose “Smaller file” quality if the portal has a strict size limit, or run the result through the PDF Compressor.

PDF to JPG: how it works

How to use the PDF to Image

  1. Choose a PDF file.
  2. Pick JPG (smaller) or PNG (sharpest), and a resolution. 150 DPI is good for screens, 300 DPI for printing.
  3. Optionally type page numbers such as 1-2, 5; leave empty for all pages.
  4. Press Convert, then download single pages or the ZIP.

If the portal also has a KB limit, take the JPG to the Image Compressor and set a target such as 100 KB. Pages are named with the original file name and page number, so they stay in order.

🔒 Privacy: every mode runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to Crop Desk or any other server.

Quick guide: which PDF tool do I need?

  • Several files into one (job application, rental or visa paperwork): Merge & split.
  • File too big for an upload limit or an email attachment: Compress PDF. Set a target size in KB or MB.
  • Photos or scans of documents: JPG to PDF, with US Letter, Legal or A4 pages.
  • Need an image of a page for a form or a slide: PDF to JPG.

All processing happens on your device, so confidential documents are never uploaded. Making a resume? Build it with the free resume builder and merge it with your certificates here. For passport or visa paperwork, make the photo with the passport photo maker.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Merging, compressing and converting all happen inside your browser, so private documents never leave your phone or computer.

Is there a limit on the number of files or pages?

There is no fixed limit. Very large PDFs (hundreds of pages) depend on your device memory; on a phone, work with smaller batches.

Will merging reduce the quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable. Only rotation information is changed when you rotate.

Can I open password-protected PDFs?

Yes. Use our free Unlock PDF tool: type the password you already know and download a copy without it, then merge, compress or convert it here. To lock a PDF, use Protect PDF.

Are my documents uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and rebuilt inside your browser with the open-source pdf.js and pdf-lib libraries. Nothing is sent to a server.

How small can it make my PDF?

It depends on the number of pages and how detailed they are. A one-page scan usually drops to 100–300 KB at 150 DPI, and lower with 100 DPI and black & white.

Why did the size not go down?

PDFs that contain only text are already compact. Re-drawing them as images can make them bigger. In that case keep the original file.

Will the PDF still be readable?

At 150 DPI and 60% quality, normal printed text stays clear. Always zoom in and check before submitting an official form.

Is the file uploaded to compress it?

No. pdf.js draws each page in your browser and pdf-lib builds the new file on your device.

Which page size should I pick?

A4 is the standard paper size in India and most countries. Letter is used in the USA. “Fit to image” makes each page exactly the shape of the photo.

Can I add more images later?

Yes. Choose files again and they are added to the end of the list.

How do I compress a PDF to less than 100 KB?

Open Compress PDF, enter a target slightly under the limit (such as 95 KB), tick Black & white for text documents and press Compress. If it still does not fit, remove unneeded pages or lower the resolution.

Is there a free PDF organizer?

Yes. The Merge & split tab lets you reorder, rotate, delete and extract pages of one or more PDFs for free, without uploading them.

Can I preview the PDF before converting?

Yes. After you pick or drop a PDF, page thumbnails appear on the page (upload preview) with the file name and page count. Then convert and download .docx – nothing is uploaded.

Can I convert a Hindi scanned PDF to Word?

Yes. Open PDF to Word, choose Scanned / Hindi OCR, keep Hindi + English (default) so English words stay English, and download the .docx. OCR runs in your browser; accuracy depends on scan quality.

Is the Word layout pixel-perfect?

No. We rebuild paragraphs and best-effort tables from text or OCR. Complex multi-column layouts will not match the original PDF exactly.

How do I compress a PDF online for free to email it?

Open the Compress PDF tab, set a target of 200 KB or 500 KB (500 KB keeps more quality and is still small enough for email), and tick Black & white for text scans. Step-by-step: reduce PDF size for email guide.

Can I compress a PDF to under 200 KB or 500 KB?

Yes – type 190 or 480 in the target box to leave a small margin. Scans of 1–3 pages usually fit; for long colour files, remove extra pages first.
