YouTube Thumbnail Downloader
Paste a YouTube video or Shorts link to see its thumbnails in HD (1280×720), SD, HQ and small sizes. Click Download, or open the image and save it. Everything runs in your browser – nothing is uploaded or saved.
How it works
Every YouTube video has its thumbnails at a fixed public address: img.youtube.com/vi/VIDEO_ID/maxresdefault.jpg. The tool pulls the 11-character video ID out of your link and builds those addresses. It needs no API key and no login. HD (maxres) only exists if the creator uploaded a high-resolution thumbnail.
Copyright: thumbnails belong to the video’s creator. Use them only for reference, for your own videos, or with permission.
🔒 Privacy: this tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is saved, uploaded or sent anywhere – close the tab and it is gone.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no HD thumbnail?
Older and some smaller videos have no maxresdefault image. Use SD or HQ instead.
The Download button didn’t save a file. What now?
Some browsers block downloads from other sites. The image then opens in a new tab, where you can long-press or right-click it to save.
Does it work with Shorts?
Yes, /shorts/ links work too.
Can I reuse any thumbnail?
No. Thumbnails are the creator’s copyright.
