How to use the Colour Palette
- Choose a photo, logo or screenshot.
- Move the mouse over the image (or tap it on a phone) to see the colour under your pointer. Click to add it to Picked colours.
- The main colours are extracted automatically. Change the number from 5 to 8 if you want more or fewer.
- Click any HEX, RGB or HSL value to copy it, or copy the whole palette as a list or CSS variables, or download it.
The extractor samples up to about 12,000 pixels and groups them with k-means clustering, so each swatch is the average of a group of similar pixels and shows what share of the image it covers. Results are repeatable for the same image.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between HEX, RGB and HSL?
They are three ways to write the same colour. HEX (#1A2B3C) is common in web and design apps, RGB gives red/green/blue values from 0–255, and HSL gives hue, saturation and lightness.
Why does a picked colour differ slightly from the palette?
The palette shows averaged colours from many pixels; a picked colour is one exact pixel.
Does it work with transparent PNGs?
Yes. Fully transparent pixels are ignored when extracting the palette.
Is my image uploaded?
No. All reading and clustering happen in your browser.
