Signature Background Remover – Transparent PNG

A signature photographed on paper usually has a grey background, shadows and faint ink. This tool removes the paper, keeps only the ink, makes it darker and trims the empty space so it looks crisp on forms and documents.

How to use the Signature Background Remover

  1. Sign with a black or blue pen on white paper and take a clear photo in good light.
  2. Choose the photo. A preview with the background removed appears on a checkered pattern.
  3. Move Ink threshold right if parts of the signature disappear, or left if paper spots remain. Use Darken ink for faint pens.
  4. Download a transparent PNG for documents, or a clean white JPG for exam forms.

The tool measures the paper brightness of your photo automatically, so mild shadows from phone photos are handled. Most exam forms want JPG; after cleaning, use the Image Resizer for exact pixels such as 140 × 60 and the Image Compressor for the KB limit.

🔒 Privacy: this tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to Crop Desk or any other server, and you can even use it offline once the page has loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why are some strokes missing?

The threshold is too low for your ink. Slide “Ink threshold” to the right until all strokes appear.

Can I change the ink colour?

Yes. Choose black or blue to recolour the whole signature evenly.

Do exam portals accept transparent PNG?

Usually not. Choose “JPG – clean white” for upload forms; use PNG for placing a signature on documents.

Is my signature uploaded?

No. Your signature never leaves your device, which is important for a sensitive image like this.
