Image Compressor, Resizer & Converter
Three image tools in one place. Compress a photo to an exact KB limit, resize it to precise pixels or centimetres at the right DPI, or convert it between JPG, PNG and WebP. Drop your images in and download the result in seconds – nothing is uploaded.
Quick targets: 20 KB · 50 KB · 100 KB · 200 KB
Presets:
Compress to KB: how it works
How to use the Image Compressor
- Choose one or more images.
- Type the maximum size in KB or tap a preset (20, 50, 100, 200 KB).
- Optionally set a maximum width, e.g. if the form also asks for a pixel size.
- Press Compress and download each file, or all as a ZIP.
The result is always at or just under your target, which upload forms accept. If a form also has a minimum size (for example 10–20 KB), choose a target near the upper limit. For exact pixel sizes, use the Image Resizer first.
Resize: how it works
How to use the Image Resizer
- Choose an image. Its current size is shown.
- Pick a unit (pixels, cm, mm or inches) and enter the width and height; set DPI when using cm or inches.
- Choose how to fit: stretch to the exact size, fill and crop the centre, or fit inside with a border.
- Press Resize, check the preview and download.
Pixels = size in inches × DPI. For example 3.5 cm at 300 DPI is 413 pixels. The DPI you enter is written into JPG and PNG files, which some portals check. If the file is then too large in KB, run it through the Image Compressor.
Convert format: how it works
How to use the Image Format Converter
- Choose one or more images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP).
- Select the output format and quality.
- For JPG, pick the colour that replaces transparent areas (white by default).
- Press Convert and download the files one by one or as a ZIP.
JPG and JPEG are the same format. WebP gives the smallest files but some older portals do not accept it. PNG is lossless and best for screenshots and signatures with transparency.
🔒 Privacy: every mode runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to Crop Desk or any other server.
Frequently asked questions
Can I compress, resize and convert in one go?
Yes. Resize first (the Resize tab also accepts a KB limit), or convert to JPG and then compress. Each tab keeps your files on your device.
Why is my file 18 KB when I asked for 20 KB?
JPG size jumps in small steps as quality changes. The tool picks the highest quality that stays under your limit, so slightly smaller is normal.
Will my photo look blurry?
At 50 KB or more, photos usually look the same. Very small targets like 10 KB may reduce dimensions; that is still fine for form photos.
Can I compress PNG files?
Yes. PNGs are converted to JPG or WebP, which are far smaller. Transparent areas become white.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. All compression happens on your device using the Canvas API.
What DPI should I use for a passport photo?
300 DPI is standard for printing. Many online forms only check pixels and KB, so follow the numbers in your notification.
Why does my photo look stretched?
“Exact size” changes the proportions if the new shape differs from the original. Choose “Fill & crop centre” to keep faces natural.
Can I make a small image bigger?
Yes, but enlarging cannot add detail, so it may look soft.
Is the image uploaded?
No. Resizing is done in your browser.
Is JPEG the same as JPG?
Yes. They are two spellings of the same format; any form that asks for JPEG accepts .jpg files.
Can I convert HEIC iPhone photos?
Most browsers cannot open HEIC. On iPhone, set Camera › Formats › Most Compatible, or share the photo as JPG first.
