Editorial Policy & How We Test Tools
This page explains where the facts on Crop Desk come from, how we check that our tools do what they say, and what we do when something is wrong.
Where our facts come from
- Exam photo and signature sizes (IBPS, SBI, NEET and others) are taken from the official recruitment or exam notification. Each guide tells you to confirm with the latest notice, because limits change between years.
- Passport photo rules for the US, UK and Canada are checked against the official government pages: travel.state.gov, gov.uk and canada.ca.
- Holiday dates on the 2027 calendar come from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) Office Memorandum dated 16 July 2026 for Central Government offices. Moon-based dates can shift and state lists differ, and the page says so.
How we test the tools
- All photo and PDF tools run in your browser. Files are processed on your device and are not uploaded to our server.
- Before a release we run automated browser tests on phone and desktop screen sizes. For example, the image compressor is tested with JPG and PNG files at 20, 50 and 100 KB targets on four compressor pages, and each test checks that the result fits the limit and actually downloads.
- The PDF compressor is set up so that it never gives you a file larger than the one you uploaded.
- We check that pages load quickly and do not jump around while loading (Core Web Vitals) on mobile and desktop.
How guides are written
- Guides are written to answer a real question people search for, such as a size, a step or a rule, with the answer near the top.
- We do not publish fake reviews or ratings, and we do not claim affiliation with any government body, exam board or bank. Crop Desk is independent.
- Each guide shows an "Updated" date when its facts are revised.
Ads and independence
Crop Desk is free and may show Google AdSense ads to pay for hosting. Ads never change what a guide says or which tool we recommend.
Found a mistake?
