How the calculation works
The tip is calculated from the bill before tax by default. If you prefer, add the sales-tax amount and turn on “Include sales tax when calculating the tip.” The final bill includes the bill, tax and tip, then divides that amount by the number of people.
Tip percentages are personal choices; the preset buttons are only convenient starting points. The calculator does not add a location-specific tax rate or suggest what you should tip.

Can I split the bill between different numbers of people?
Yes. Enter the number of people sharing the bill to see the tip and total per person.
Does this calculate sales tax?
No. Enter the sales-tax amount shown on your receipt if you want it included in the total. Tax rates vary by location.
Does it decide how much I should tip?
No. It only does the arithmetic for the percentage you choose.
